Not a Prosperity Gospel

'With what Epaphroditus delivered to me from your generous pockets, I have even been blessed in excess. I am fully satisfied. I know God is pleased with your dedication and accepts this gift as a fragrant offering, a holy sacrifice, on His behalf. Know this: my God will also fill every need you have according to His glorious riches in Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King. So may our God and Father be glorified forever and ever. Amen.' Philippians 4:18-20 (VOICE)

God supplies everything that we need. Hallelujah! And when we see a need and help out a brother or sister in Christ, we can know that God views that service as good works, a free-will offering and a holy sacrifice done on His behalf because we love Him and we love our family.  So, for our generosity to one another, we can rest assured that God sees our desires and is pleased with our dedication to one another and looks on it as an acceptable gift and fragrant offering done for His benefit. He knows our heart. When we focus on Kingdom building glorious awards await us. What an amazing thought that is. What an amazing Savior our Lord Jesus is to us.

He saves us, so don't forget to do good. He sacrificed Himself for us, so we should consider our life as an altar and make it a living sacrifice to Him. He communicates His love to us, so we should not withhold a single good thing or fail to communicate with one another. Isn't it obvious that while we bless our brothers and sisters with kindness because we love them, that our love for them and acts of service will be noticed by God? He blesses us for being a blessing! And the blessings just keep coming. To that there is no end!

When Paul says He will supply it all, he means that He will also fill every need that we have. God is generous that way. All needs. All filling. Done.  And done according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. He does not hold anything back. When Paul says forever and ever, we might consider that in the Eternal City there will be no need for sun, moon and stars. In that Glory realm, that same God will supply all the light that we need. He will be our Light source! If His Glory reigns to that extent in heaven, then how could we possibly be left wanting a single thing during our time here, knowing that God is glorified forever and ever?

To God be the Glory. This is not a prosperity gospel. We are not told to use God. It is quite the opposite really. Can't you see that God uses us? The Holy Spirit power is available for us to do God's will. We could not do a single good thing without the person of the Holy Spirit. It's not even possible to be good without God. It's not greed nor the power of the flesh that motivates the Saints to do good. Its by Holy Spirit promptings that we desire to please God. It's because of our love for God that we desire to bring Him glory.

Dear Heavenly Father. I thank You that You have supplied all of my needs. Thank You for my generous brothers and sisters. What a blessing they are to me. What a blessing You are to me. Whenever I am in need, You always show up just in time with your generous provisions. I am amazed by the wonder of You. Thank You for saving me. Thank You for being my Eternal Light source. In Jesus name. Amen.
