Smile and Shine Like the Sun
'Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.' Matthew 13:36-43 (ESV)
'He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.' Psalm 126:6 (ESV)
And if Jesus said it, then it is true. There is a heaven and there is a hell. Hell is a place meant for law-breakers and it is a place of torment. Jesus, Himself cries over the lost. He sows in tears. Tears are shed by a loving Father who is mighty to Save as He throws the tares into the fiery furnace. All powerful God and with a heart and hand to save must also pay the price for them and yet, must even restrain Himself. He is bound by the rules of the game. In order to have sons and daughters He must also grieve over them and work out His plan of redemption around the prize and the thorn of free will. But there is hope beyond the sorrow of the night, there is cause to pray for an ample harvest.
Thus He casts His seeds about the earth and looks forward to the celebration and the long morning and joyful harvest when the Spirit reaps life everlasting and brings His righteous sons and daughters home to shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.
Dear Father. Thank you for Your Word. Thank you for Your Son. Thank you for those who preach Your Word, Your ministers and sons and daughters. Thank you for Your loving Heart and mighty Hand to save. We weep with You for the lost. Thank you for righteousness and justice. Holy Spirit go forth, through us, plant only good seeds, bring forth an ample harvest. In Jesus's name. Amen.
