Broken Walls
“Preach to them the real thing. Tell them, ‘Listen to God’s Message!’ God, the Master, pronounces doom on the empty-headed prophets who do their own thing and know nothing of what’s going on! Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals scavenging through the ruins. They haven’t lifted a finger to repair the defenses of the city and have risked nothing to help Israel stand on God’s Day of Judgment. All they do is fantasize comforting illusions and preach lying sermons. They say ‘God says . . .’ when God hasn’t so much as breathed in their direction. And yet they stand around thinking that something they said is going to happen.' Exekiel 13:2-6 (MSG)
Some might see this as a call to return to truth. We need to hear a
message from God. I need to hear a message from God. I need to know what
is going on. I need to know what God is up to? I need to identify the
broken walls in my own life and get busy repairing them. Repairs, to my
spirit that caused me to neglect my faith will bring me back to focusing
on the source of spiritual power. Power, restored through the Holy
Spirit will bring back that which was lost.
The prophets that refuse to preach the real thing are jackals and scavengers. Scavengers going through the ruins! Not willing to preach the truth to begin the process of repairing the city's defenses they become lazy convincing liars. So convincing, they even convince themselves. Empty headed. Not listening, not hearing, and soon enough He stops speaking. When God is not breathing in their direction, nothing good will come out of it. Only doom. Tell us the truth, ye men of God. We can take it. Deep down we know what is right, and what needs to be done. You may not want to speak it, but we so desperately need to hear it. God's Words, not your own. The longer you wait, the harder it gets to fix the broken walls and the farther we get from the Truth. Ye of little faith, do not lock the Holy Spirit out of your meeting rooms. For failing to get your people ready, you will be held to account on God's Day of Judgment.
