The Expert Witness
'So
God has given us two unchanging things: His promise and His oath. These
prove that it is impossible for God to lie. As a result, we who come to
God for refuge might be encouraged to seize that hope that is set
before us. That hope is real and true, an anchor to steady our restless
souls, a hope that leads us back behind the curtain to where God is (as
the high priests did in the days when
reconciliation flowed from sacrifices in the temple) and back into the
place where Jesus, who went ahead on our behalf, has entered since He
has become a High Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews
6:18-20 (VOICE)
Who can you trust? There is none but the Lord. So then, in this expert Witness of the highest order we can firmly believe, place your trust in God. For He alone is worthy of our trust and our praise. He never changes. He is the same from everlasting to everlasting. There is none so righteous and true that you can believe in what He has said and done. None but the Lord. Everything. Everyone. Everywhere.
Lying goes against His nature. Bad council goes against His will. There is no deceit or deception in Him. God cannot lie. He is reliable. Two things we can know for certain; the destruction of the unbeliever and the salvation of the believer. With full knowledge of our inheritance, the believer is secure and happy. In both of these truths, the weak are given strong confidence.
For the believer, their lives, even though tossed about in the storms of life as a ship on the seas, are full of gospel hope. With Christ as their anchor to keep them steady they endure every trial, for God is merciful to them and Christ redeems them through it all in His covenant of grace. He is Holy. He is steadfast. He is faithful and His Love endures forever.
With such a great Love as this we are hopeful and the reason for that hope leads us behind the curtain to where God is. We are led to believe in Him. He is our High Priest. We shall see Him as He truly is. The Trinity; God the Father full of grace, Christ His Son our mediator and the powerful Holy Spirit. We can see Him as Truth and believe in Him and His promises. Jesus Saves.
How great it is to know Him as personal Savior. For all of our broken promises to Him, we trust Him and He forgives. For those heaven bound, we should give Him a shout of praise for His sacrifices to us and pursue Him with everything we've got! One great day Christ will appear again as King to reign over us forever and we shall appear with Him in glory!
