In Awesome Wonder

'John testified [repeatedly] about Him and has cried out [testifying officially for the record, with validity and relevance], “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I and has priority over me, for He existed before me.’” For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. For the Law was given through Moses, but grace [the unearned, undeserved favor of God] and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God [His essence, His divine nature] at any time; the [One and] only begotten God [that is, the unique Son] who is in the intimate presence of the Father, He has explained Him [and interpreted and revealed the awesome wonder of the Father].' John 1:15-18 (AMP)

The Law was given through Moses and it revealed God to us. through its burdensome rites and ceremonies and prepared us for the need of a Savior. God is the God of Grace. God is the God of Truth. Truth was given to us through Jesus and He revealed God to us in the form of Grace. Jesus is the Gospel. Jesus is the Good News. John revealed all of this to us when he introduced us to Jesus.

Jesus told us the truth. He is the Son of God. No one can get to the Father except through His Son. Mercy comes to the sinner through Him. Jesus has everything we need and we receive it all through faith in Him. Our many benefits and gifts flow through Him to us.

Our many blessings from Him include wisdom, peace and joy. What we receive through Christ is all summed up in the word grace. A gift so great, it is the good will of God to us, and the good work of God working in us. God is good. He supplies it all. Everything we need comes from Him. From spiritual blessing to spiritual blessing. From favor upon favor. From gift heaped upon gift. It all comes to us from God through grace because we have not earned it and we do not deserve it.

Though none has seen the Father, we can know Him through Christ His Son for the Son is in the presence of His Father and has in all ways revealed His awesome wonder and explained Him to us. So that on this great day we can know Him and believe Him and sing 'How Great Thou Art'!
