Prayers: Fill Us

'For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers; [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength which He produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come. And He put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].' Ephesians 1:15-23 (AMP)

Prayer. We all do it. We all need it. I pray for you. You pray for me. There are these promises of an inheritance, very rich and full spiritual blessings that God has laid up for us in His son that we are required to go after and take hold of only through prayer.

I pray that God will grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation. Who doesn't want and need more wisdom? Think of what having a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of Him would bring. Can you even imagine it? What it would be like to have a personal relationship with a King and Savior that wants to know me! The possibilities of finding the hope of our calling and the riches of His glory is there if we could just find it in ourselves to pray more. Prayer works.

So then, it appears that I couldn't possibly be able to be an effective believer on my own, but that the believer's power and victory lies in the Holy Spirit and in Christ alone. That power leads me to pray. That power raised Christ from the dead. For Christ was raised from the dead and sealed at the right hand of God in heavenly places by the workings of the mighty strength of the Holy Spirit. Prayer is powerful.

That Holy Spirit power placed Christ far above all things and all things are placed in subjection under His feet. He is the head over all things in the church. So we are led to Him. So we are led to His light. So we are led to His power. So we are led to pray. He is the power behind the light. He is the Light of the world. In His fullness He fills and completes all things. Church prayer.
