Be Still


'Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.' Psalm 46:6-11 (NIV)

Come and see the judgment of the Lord fall on the great nations and kingdoms of this world! He is at work destroying the evil plots and schemes of the wicked and tearing down and exposing their strong holds and tall towers. He destroys their weapons and causes all wars to cease. There is none like You. No more bloodshed. No more loss of innocent lives. No place to hide. Just this, His voice saying 'be still'.

He says it and we see what He alone has accomplished. It is so great we can barely take it all in. We are on our knees in prayer and praise. Our redeemer. Our defender. Our fortress. And we thank you. We thank you for this promised day of peace and in knowing that You are with us. We mourn our losses and we celebrate Your victory. Not in anything that we have done. We were idle and failed to launch but we were faithful. It is You. You have intervened on our behalf. The church is secure. You are with us now. You are always with us. We exalt You. For truly, if God is for us, who can be against us? You reign. Let Your Glory be over all the earth.

We hear You even now and we are humbled...

'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.' Amen.

In Chapter three, the evil ideas of Haman, to have all the Jews exterminated, had been decreed by the king, and the money set aside in an account for the diabolical deeds and the date was set on the calendar for the bloodshed! That part is so incredible, that one man was given that much power. Just imagine it if you were a Jew. The date for the destruction of your entire race was set and the preparations to follow through with it were being made. Thankfully, our God is greater. Our God is able.
