Be Mournful

'Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.' Matthew 5:4 (NIV)

'yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.' 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 (NIV)

'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.' 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

Mournful: feeling or expressing sorrow or grief, sorrowful or sad.

We cry for ourselves. We cry for our loss. We cry for our nation. We cry and yet we are told that through our mourning we will find comfort when we are led by God to believe that sin is wrong.

There is comfort in knowing that, even though we don't have all of the answers our God does. He convicts us of our sins. He intends for us to become sorrowful when we fail Him. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation. When we acknowledge our sins and are made aware of our need for Him and we approach His throne of grace with eagerness He will clear us.

With indignation and alarm we long to see our concerns addressed. We are ready to see justice done. At every point we are innocent in this and we seek His face so that He might intervene and stop the bloodshed. We mourn us and everyone that sins. We mourn that our sins bring on spiritual death that separates us from You oh God.

God, You are the life giver and when we chose sin and go our own way we chose to go away from You. We are truly sorry for our sin. We are truly sorry for our sin and specifically, the sin of abortion. We repent of our sins and we turn away from them and we turn back to You. Only You can save us. Only You can forgive us and make us right again.

Mourning is a blessing when it leads me to acknowledge my sins. When I remember where I have failed You, I am lead to repent and when I do I know You will forgive me and You will save me. Save me even now oh Lord, purify me and comfort me so that I might live again. Take away these feelings of regret, take away those images of dead babies and adults celebrating! Even now, I feel your punishments beginning to fall. This is my clarion call. Forgive me in my weakness and give me strength oh Lord to enter the spiritual battle and take on the prayer warrior spirit to intercede for them all.

This is our clarion call. Lord, we unite to pray that You will intervene for those that deserve a chance. Turn us away from pride and the fear and hate that leads to wrong choices and bring us back to You. We were deceived by our enemy, but the wisest man that ever lived says: 'Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.' Psalm 127:3-5. Amen.

We mourn. We are called to it. We repent. We pray for the 'Day of Mourning'. We pray to see the day our nation turns from its legalization of murder and death of the innocent. We repent the sin of abortion. We claim our wombs for Your glory and pray a hedge of protection be upon Your most precious and Holy children. We give you all the Glory. Amen.
