Through the Eyes of a Child
'When the crowd gathered again, the people brought their children to
see Jesus, hoping that He might grant them His blessing through His
touch. His disciples turned them all away; but when Jesus saw this, He
was incensed. Jesus (to the disciples): Let the children come to Me, and
don’t ever stand in their way, for this is what the kingdom of God is
all about. Truly anyone who doesn’t accept the kingdom of God as a
little child does can never enter it. Jesus gathered the children in His arms, and He laid His hands on them to bless them.' Mark 10:13-16 (VOICE)
For the parents knew even more than His disciples did in this matter of
spiritual importance, that where the Lord was one would find favor and
blessings would flow and because of this they only wanted Jesus to bless
their children. The disciples thought they were unworthy for the
Master's attention, and when Jesus saw His disciples turning these
people away from Him, He became very angry. He explained to His
disciples what His kingdom was like and that only those with child-like
faith in Him would ever get into it. He gathered the little children in
His arms and He laid His hands on them to bless them.
We must become just like little children of faith. We are God's children. We can only find Him when we seek Him through the eyes of a child and with our child-like faith. The kingdom is like that. Only those who seek Him with this kind of faith will get in.
Study a child and be prepared to be delighted and amazed. They are such a gift from God to us. Helpless but never hopeless. Dependent but never burdensome. Just look into their little eyes! If we could only see the world through the eyes of a child we would see the magic and the mystery in it all! Through the eyes of a child: Full of excitement, curiosity and wonder. Through the eyes of a child: Always questioning. Through the eyes of a child: Tender not skeptical. Through the eyes of a child: Focused on the details. Through the eyes of a child: Trusting that God will protect them. Through the eyes of a child: Believing that God will heal them. Through the eyes of a child: Knowing that God will care for them. Through the eyes of a child: Always looking up. Through the eyes of a child: Following and obeying. Through the eyes of a child: Seeing to understand, knowing and growing. Through the eyes of a child: Learning and teaching. Through the eyes of a child: Smiling and reflecting. Child-like faith. Where is it? We need more of it. We need more babies in our lives. Spending more time with children would do us all some good. Oh the lessons we could learn from a child. Do it again. Do it again. Throw me into the air so I might feel that freedom and be fearless again!
