Difficult Last Days
'But you need to be aware that in the final days the culture of
society will become extremely fierce and difficult for the people of
God. People will be self-centered lovers of themselves and obsessed with
money. They will boast of great things as they strut around in their
arrogant pride and mock all that is right. They will ignore their own
families. They will be ungrateful and ungodly.
They will become addicted to hateful and malicious slander. Slaves to their desires, they will be ferocious, belligerent haters of what is good and right. With brutal treachery, they will act without restraint, bigoted and wrapped in clouds of their conceit. They will find their delight in the pleasures of this world more than the pleasures of the loving God.
They may pretend to have a respect for God, but in reality they want nothing to do with God’s power. Stay away from people like these!' 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (TPT)
Paul's warning to Timothy was as relevant then as it is now; if you think things are bad now, just wait. During the last days, men's hearts will grow cold and when they have no respect for God, they will respect no one. What are we to do? Persevere. Avoid these ungodly men. Do not live in fear. Do all we can to preserve the principles of the church within the hearts of men, for without them men will not love one another or fear God.
The fear of God brings respect for Him and He gives us the desire to obey Him. The love of God makes us want to please Him. In this life we have a choice, to either live free and at peace according to God's rules or to live tormented according to the rules of the evil from within. During the last days the Word tells us evil will replace love. Men will become slaves to their own lusts and desires and act like animals. To some, it will seem like hell has come to earth. A hell that started with pride when we deceived ourselves and placed more value on the things that we created than we did on our creator. We will become a materialistic misguided society that places employment above all else. How can we expect anything of value to come from a person that puts the love of money above the love of God? Giving a man a job and making money his idol while taking away His God and purpose is the worst thing you can do for him. A change in status because of money is of little value to the man unless he has a change of heart first. What good comes from a system of greed that praises the money that buys the bread to feed the flesh but refuses to acknowledge the spiritual side or to praise the true giver of the bread of life that feeds the soul? When we are told there are none good but Jesus, wouldn't we be wise to place our focus on Him and on what is good? The storms of life will come but some will always be too blind to see the truth. The truth is, materialism can't save us, focusing on and having faith in the only one that can save us will. The One that can and the One that will, His name is Jesus. That's the answer, for the rest of us, we are to have no fear, for He is with us. His mercy and His grace follow us forever!
