Focus on the Family

'Moses: Listen, Israel! The Eternal is our True God—He alone. You should love Him, your True God, with all your heart and soul, with every ounce of your strength. Make the things I’m commanding you today part of who you are. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you’re sitting together in your home and when you’re walking together down the road. Make them the last thing you talk about before you go to bed and the first thing you talk about the next morning.' Deuteronomy 6:4-7 (VOICE)

Parents, grandparents and educators should know that God loves and wants children and adults. Children can only live according to His ways if they know His Word. Their minds are like beautiful little fertile fields and they are capable of producing such a good crop if we let them.

The wisdom book says to train up a child in the way he should go. We should be helping them to find their own way. We see the wisdom in the Word and are blessed beyond measure by pointing our children in the right direction so that when they are old they won't get lost and depart from it. We point them in the right direction by simply making the commandments part of who we are and then we repeat them. Children learn from us by watching what we do so do the right thing in front of them. No excuses. Do the things that are pleasing to God. We please God when we do what Moses suggests by speaking God's truth and law to our children, we could also read the Bible to them, and we could have family worship time together with them and all of this would help establish in our sons and daughters the core principles of faith and help them to become well grounded in faith.

Taking our parenting/grandparenting/educator responsibilities seriously could save our children from being taken captive by man's ideas and being deceived by human traditions, or from becoming rebellious and living unfaithful and godless lives, or from growing up without ever knowing God and His goodness. Growing up not knowing God would be a sad thing. There is so much more to life than what the world has to offer and we discover what that is by learning the truths and by living out the life God has planned for each one of us. There is so much more to life than money, politics or religion. Teaching our children to enjoy the good things in life is so rewarding. When we spend time with them reading and studying the theological and the philosophical and teaching them how to apply the principles they learn there, life becomes a real adventure in better living for sure, with the love of God and hope for the future thrown in. You prove your love for them when you show them that you love God with every ounce of your strength. You prove your love for them when you live out the commandment to love God and to love each other with all your heart and soul! Focus on the family. Absolutely the most important thing. No village required. No regrets.
