Time to Talk

'But they took no plunder. That day, when it was all over, the number of those killed in the palace complex was given to the king. The king told Queen Esther, “In the palace complex alone here in Susa the Jews have killed five hundred men, plus Haman’s ten sons. Think of the killing that must have been done in the rest of the provinces! What else do you want? Name it and it’s yours. Your wish is my command.” Esther 9:9-12 (MSG)

During the days of the Persian Empire, Haman had called for genocide. He had the king's trust and signet ring. Because of his prejudice and racism he had tricked the king and called for all Jewish people to be destroyed. The decree was written and sent out to all of the king's provinces. Then Esther became queen and took a stand against evil. God had a different plan.

Historians say it was a battle of self preservation. Perhaps 75,000 Persian men women and children were massacred during the battle on that day. It was a day of redemption for the Jewish people. Their lives were spared. It was a time for celebration. They still celebrate this day, the festival of Purim, even 2,500 years later.

Now what time is it? No matter what time zone you live in the times are the same now as they were then. Violence still remains in the hearts of all men and even a few evil men will act on it. Just as in the days of Esther, isn't it time for some good news? Isn't it time to talk to your Maker? Isn't it time to talk to God? He can hear you. He can hear your pleas for help and He will respond to you. His favor will shine upon you. He will share with you some very Good News. He will adopt you as His own. For the believer, He is the reason we celebrate, for He is our protector and our guide when we call out to Him. What we need Him to do, He will do. Name it. Pray specific and turn your faith loose in the One that has all power over your enemies.
