Spirit Walk

'So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.  The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.  But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.' Galatians 5:16-18 (NLT)

Stay on the right path. Walk with the Spirit. Stay on the Spirit path or the Spirit sidewalk, so to speak. As long as we breathe we live in the flesh, but through the Holy Spirit we are encouraged to deny those sinful cravings that the flesh brings. Spirit vs flesh living is in opposition to one another. The flesh keeps us in bondage and under obligation to the laws of Moses.

So then, when I follow the desires of my sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,  envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.

Yet, when I follow the desires of  the Spirit, He keeps me free and He produces the Fruit of the Spirit in me.  When I follow the flesh I am kept under the law, but the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. The Holy Spirit brings freedom. There is no law against these things!

Could you even imagine it? Imagine, how far the flesh would go, the absurd far left making a law that demands me to hold my peace! They can place their bans on common sense views and block the dissenting opinion that comes from the wisdom of the ages for a season. Love will find a way! They can place all kinds of bans and write code to suppress the message that Holy Spirit gives me on my blog, but still, those close to me know that the peace of the Lord lives in me. Amen.

So we can choose which path we take. Can the apostles and prophets proclaim God's revelations in love?  Can the evangelists and pastors preach the Word of God in joy? Can the teachers of the Word share the stories of the Bible in peace?   These leaders are called by God "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

As the unity of the body is still a work in progress, we can rest assured that these offices of prophets and apostles must still be in effect. These are desirable offices. We are to desire these positions and to pray for the people God uses in them and for the gifts that the Holy Spirit provides. We are to pray that the Holy Spirit keeps manifesting through us and speaking through us and teaching us God's Word. Forever. Amen.

Through Christ we Live and believe. Stay on the right path. We listen to what the Holy Spirit says and we do what He has us do. Amen.
