My Light Source

Image
'The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?' Psalm 27:1   'Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.' Isaiah 60:1 'Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me.' Micah 7:8 'What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?' Romans 8:31 'The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?' Psalm 118:6 (NKJV) This morning, a thought on a theme; God's love and protection. Not just this morning, but every morning! The theme of my life is being played out right in front of me and I can see it with my own eyes. Fingers speak! Why not find comfort in Him? Why not fill my mind this morning with thoughts of my Lord and my Redeemer? Sleep? Evasive. Overrated. So, I run to Him with open a...

And Tomorrow, More of the Same

Image
'A call to the savage beasts: Come on the run. Come, devour, beast barbarians! For Israel’s watchmen are blind, the whole lot of them. They have no idea what’s going on. They’re dogs without sense enough to bark, lazy dogs, dreaming in the sun— But hungry dogs, they do know how to eat, voracious dogs, with never enough. And these are Israel’s shepherds! They know nothing, understand nothing. They all look after themselves, grabbing whatever’s not nailed down. “Come,” they say, “let’s have a party. Let’s go out and get drunk!” And tomorrow, more of the same: “Let’s live it up!” Isaiah 56:9-12 (MSG) How do you like that? How does that make you feel? I take this as a warning. Simple and true then, when written. Even a reminder today. For the watchmen it may be too late. If they are fat and lazy, then, who will warn them? We will. The ones with no platform to lose. The ones with nothing to gain. The ones who have been called to pray and who have answered that call. The...

Better than Gold

Image
'Suffering tests your faith which is more valuable than gold (remember that gold, although it is perishable, is tested by fire) so that if it is found genuine, you can receive praise, honor, and glory when Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, is revealed at last. Although you haven’t seen Jesus, you still love Him. Although you don’t yet see Him, you do believe in Him and cel ebrate with a joy that is glorious and beyond words. You are receiving the salvation of your souls as the result of your faith.' 1 Peter 1:7-9 (VOICE) Though my trials have been many they were only tests to purify me so that my faith would be strong and sustain me to the end. Knowing You, Jesus, has made me suc...

Practicing to Improve My Performance

Image
'He built an altar there and named it after God, the God of Israel.' Genesis 33:20 (NCV) Where is your faith? A year and a half ago a friend and I went on a search to find the answer to that question. It was a journey we were eager to begin. We were looking for answers. We were looking for more power in our prayer life. Appreciating the opportunity to grow whi le accepting the opposition that would inevitably arise by our change of focus we set a course of study on prayer and we prayed. You see, I only wanted to improve my prayer life. In all things we do, I've been told, doing more of it makes us better at it. After a fifteen month search with unbelievable highs and lows I am finally beginning to find myself through prayer. I found myself by being able to find the words to describe the dark place where I once was. It was a long night. A lot of people showed up to save me during my search. By finding my voice, I found people just like me that love me and ha...

Look! I Am Alive

Image
'During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.' Acts 1:3 (NLT) 'I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.' Revelation 1:18 'But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.' 1 Corinthians 15:20 'That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive...

Calling Home

Image
'But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love o f God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.' Jude 1:17-23 (ESV) This warning, lest we forget, is to remind each one of us what the apostles so wisely taught us! Don't forget that they even predicted what life would be like during the last days. Recall how they described to us in great detail that there would be scoffers among us and how those who doubt the faith would leave it to fol...

His Power - Our Praise Prayer

Image
'Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty, dominion and power, now and ever. Amen.' Jude 1:24-25 (KJ21) Dear Jesus. Only in Your presence am I able to stand. You are willing and able to keep me from falling. Your Love prop s me up. Your Love sustains me. Your Love preserves me. You are constantly looking out for me. My desire is to stay near to You. My desire is to praise You. My desire is to stay in Your mighty presence and in Your Love. You are my Lord and Savior. You are my wise King. Only by Your grace am I able to resist temptation and in the end to be presented faultless by You to the Father. I offer up to You this prayer of thanksgiving. Only through You, Jesus, can I stand blameless before the Judgement-seat. Oh what joy! Exceeding joy, to see on that final day, what I have been delivered from! Oh what joy, e...
