The Godly Craftsman

'Eternal One: Look, I have a special calling upon one of the sons of Judah. His name is Bezalel (the son of Uri, son of Hur).  I have filled him with God’s Spirit, gifted him with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and skills with a variety of crafts. He is an expert designer and works well with gold, silver, and bronze  He is able to cut and set gems, work with wood, and skillfully perform any craft needed to help construct the congregation tent and its furnishings I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan to assist Bezalel. I have gifted all of Israel’s artisans with the skills needed to build everything I have instructed you.' Exodus 31:1-6 (VOICE)

They were trained in Egypt to be masons and brick layers until God called them curiously enough to become craftsmen and designers. Wow! What a stretch. From a slave mentality group think nation to a completely independent and sovereign group of problem solving architects, being made ready by the work of the Holy Spirit, to create anything that God demanded. They were made ready to serve. They were filled with the Holy Spirit, the same power which gave the Disciples their ability to give utterance in a language that they had not learned. For these two men in particular were given even greater gifts to perform the miracles that were needed to complete the work that God had called them to do. Build My Tabernacle!

They were called to oversee the work of constructing the Tabernacle and all of the furnishing. When He called them, they already had great skills in the natural and He also filled them with His own Spirit of wisdom, understanding and knowledge and gave them supernatural abilities.  He also equipped them with everything that they needed to perform it and gave very detailed instructions on how it was to be built. It was hard work but the Lord was their strength. They were focused on their work and God was their inspiration. Our God never changes.

That was then. This is now.  There is more. Because of Jesus, there is so much more. God has so much more for us in the natural and in the Supernatural.  God never changes. When He calls us to be His craftsmen and designers He gives each one of us the different gifts that we need in order to fulfill the calling. All of our gifts are different and all of our gifts are from God.  Even the wisdom that we need in every circumstance is given to us by Him as a gift for He is a good God. He would never show us a thing that He calls us to do without first giving us the abilities, and His gifts of instruction, understanding and the knowledge and skills in which we need to perform it. For the godly craftsman, it's easy to see the mark of Christ on our lives. He gives us strength and inspiration. We stay focused on Him. We seek Him more than the gifts. He trusts us and calls us and gives us grace and the abilities to be His Kingdom Builders.

Artistic ability is one such gift that God gives to His craftsmen, it is a high gift, given by God in the natural to only a few, and it is a gift that is to be used by those that receive it to give God honor and glory and to improve and elevate us all to the finer things of life and advance God's Kingdom. Supernatural ability is another gift, an even higher gift, given by God to us all, through the Holy Spirit, to bring God honor and glory and to improve and elevate us all to the things that are available to us through God's Kingdom. In Him we find the gift of favor. There is so much more to life when the One that is the Giver of Grace is in it and shines His favor upon us. Because of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, God's gifts are for everyone, not just a few. They are available for all of us that are willing to call upon His name.

Dear Heavenly Father. We are willing to call upon Your name. We repent of our sins to You today and call on You, Jesus, to save us. We need You to be our Plumb Line. Fill us with more of Your Spirit. We desire to be filled with all of Your gifts. We need your favor to shine upon us today.  Walk with us. Guide us. Fill us with Your wisdom and understanding. We thank You that You call us out of the natural into the Supernatural to be creative problem solvers and that You equip us with the skills and everything that we need to be Kingdom builders. Make us into the godly craftsmen that You want us to be. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
