They Came, They Heard, They Responded
'When they heard this they were crushed and realized what they had done
to Jesus. Deeply moved, they said to Peter and the other apostles,
“What do we need to do, brothers?”
Peter replied, “Repent and return to God, and each one of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus, the Anointed One, to have your sins removed. Then you may take hold of the gift of the Holy Spirit. For God’s promise of the Holy Spirit is for you and your families, for those yet to be born and for everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Peter preached to them and warned them with these words: “Be rescued from the wayward and perverse culture of this world!”
Those who believed the word that day numbered three thousand. They were all baptized and added to the church.' Acts 2:37-41 (TPT)
They came to find out what all that noise was about. They heard the message preached in their own language. They responded to it and were deeply moved to ask 'what do we need to do?'
What do we need to do? We could repent and be thankful that when Jesus ascended into heaven that He sent the Holy Spirit to help us and to comfort us. For the believer, we have already received the gift which is the Spirit of adoption, and He converts us and guides us and sanctifies us. He is the promise that is given to every member of the family. He is the source of our strength and power.
Dear Father.
Thank you for Your Word. I pray that each time we gather we
come expecting to hear from You and that we respond. Today, our
only hope is a mighty move of the Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit, we need
You!
In Jesus's name.
Amen.
