Taking a Stand
Be alert. Continue strong in the faith. Have courage, and be strong. Do everything in love.' 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NCV)
To be alert is to be ready and not to fall asleep on the job or to
become lazy. This faithful Christian is always in danger. He cannot
become distracted by events even for a moment. His very life is at
stake.
He is to be watchful and to
remain poised for battle. In that, he must remain poised and also be
prepared for it when danger comes, that shock to the faith so to speak.
He can take a stand against the enemy, when the challenges come, that he
might diminish their outcomes because he sees them coming. Because he
sees the attacks coming, he can be confident in the revelation of God in
Jesus and to stay on his feet and not stumble.
Even though he is
weak, he has been made strong and brave in the fight with the world,
the flesh and the devil. Through His strength he has been given
spiritual power, wisdom and understanding to take on courage and to be
strong in the faith. Like a mighty warrior he is made strong and is more
than able to stand for truth, doing everything in the Lord and in His
power and His might and His grace. Trusting in Him. Believing in Him.
Looking to Him for strength and righteousness. Doing everything through
Him and in love for when he does things in love he does them well.
Stand. Today, stand and be more Christ-like and act like a man.
Dear Father
I pray this thirty days before the election for your will to be done. Done in holiness. Done in unity. Done in good faith and for all the earth to benefit. And I praise you in advance for your mercy. I praise you for the hope that is within us. I praise you for your saving grace that you have shown to us this day.
In Jesus' day.
Amen.
