Standing Firm
'If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.' Mark 3:25 (NASB)
Any family, large or small, if divided against itself, cannot stand. The disagreements and the discord among its members, if left unchecked, will soon enough bring it down. That is why every member in the family must do their part to adhere to the family unit and its high and lofty goals for a brighter day and better tomorrow. That is why all darkness and hardness of heart has to be exposed and dealt with.
No one in the family would ever want it said that they were the reason the family was brought down from a comfortable and prosperous condition, to a very miserable, depressed, gloomy and distressed situation. Anyone can see that a family cannot support the weight of even one sinful and dishonest member. It will fail. It will fall.
For unity of purpose, everyone must contribute to the work that is required to build up a house. Everyone must be standing firm to withstand the storms that will inevitably come against it. If and when that lazy spirit of disunity inspires a member to refuse to participate and to cooperate with the rest, no one will benefit. No healing will take place. If that spiritual attitude of discord flows to enough members in that family, then its days are numbered. That family is doomed for destruction, and death of the way things used to be will soon come.
Dear Father. We thank you for Your Word. We thank you for Your house and for families that work together to build unity of purpose and honesty. You established the family as the fundamental social unit. We thank You for that. We thank you for who You are and that You loved us first. We thank you for strong families and bonds that keep us all tied together. Please strengthen us. Please show us mercy and grace. Please destroy the spirit of disunity and disloyalty whenever You see it, so that we might live a joyful life and be in harmony with one another, in the way You have planned it to be. Thank you for giving us the spirit of unity so that we just won't quit, no matter the situation. You are worth fighting for. God You are Good. God You are Faithful. God we need You to intervene for us yet again. In Jesus name. Amen.
