Marching to Keep the Pace
'As
long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and
heat, summer and winter, day and night.' Genesis 8:22 (NLT)
God's
promises are true and that we can believe. We are God's covenant
people. What He has said He also will do. For He is Truth and my God
cannot lie. So it goes from the beginning, and so it will be until the
end. As long as the earth remains, God will provide. God will cause time
and seasons to go on. The order of things has been established for all
things created during the six days, but then comes the seventh. Even the
higher order of things has been seen and will be established when
limits are reached and man is filled up.
So,
we set the pace to a steady march, with drums blazing, and we head out
the door. Head down. White. White. Everything is white. So, on this day
we prepare to meet the elements. Hat, coat, gloves and more! The wind
that faces us is fierce. The earth beneath our feet is treacherous. Yet,
we find beauty in what we see and we find it within ourselves to thank
God for the provisions that He has given us during these shorter days.
To
those that have gone out early to clear the roads and sidewalks so that
we might be able to go and do what we have been called to do. We thank
you. To those that have gotten up early to prepare the morning meals so
that we might be fed and have energy to carry on. We thank you. To those
that have enlisted and fought the enemy during this season with
everything that they have got, so that we might enjoy our days in
freedom. We thank you for your service. To those that have dug deep in
order to provide us with the fuel to heat our homes and give us light,
so that we might enjoy our days in warmth and comfort. We thank you. To
those that sacrifice it all in order to drive the delivery trucks that
bring us everything that we need in order to survive. We thank you. To
those that have marched through winter snow drifts to do their part and
make our lives better. We thank you. To God, who has given us His Son
Jesus, in whom we are preparing to celebrate His birth, so that we might
be redeemed from the curse and be saved. We thank you.
Dear
Father. Forgive me when I fail to show gratitude for all the things
that You do for me. Help me to live a life of thanksgiving and to never
take for granted the fact that so many people around me have served me
in so many different ways. Thank You for Your promises and for the earth
that remains. Thank You for keeping the rhythm that we all march to and
for giving us a purpose in life where we are called to encourage and to
make our contributions to one another. It is for Love that we do it. We
will not slow down the pace. We continue to march onward for Truth in
Your Army. Your Love for us has changed everything. In Jesus's name.
Amen.
