Winding Paths
'Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment.' Judges 4:4-5 (ESV)
Deborah
judged people during a period of Israel's oppression around 1250 BC.
She was endowed with many gifts and grace, to write songs, to judge, to
prophesy, to convince her people of their sins. She was a wife and a
courageous leader that directed Barak, an army general, to raise up an
army to fight for their country's freedom.
Deborah
assisted in battle as she would not send where she was unwilling to go
and God intervened and assisted in the battle with a great victory.
Dear Father
Thank
you for Your Word that encourages and inspires. Help us to never turn
our back on You, just as the people followed You in the days of
prophetess Deborah, help us to hear from You and follow Your ways. Your
message has not changed in thousands of years. You are still saving
people from their sins. You are still encouraging people that are in
difficult situations and you are giving hope to people taking winding
paths to make a change and fight for their freedom. Help us to sing
praises to You for the great things that You do for us and to never take
You for granted.
In Jesus name
Amen
