Celebrate 30!
My son - There is no One Else in the World Like You. Today you turn 30! What a milestone. A day to reflect and to celebrate you.
Thinking back to the day you were born gives me such fond memories. There you were, hesitant to leave the womb yet when you burst forth there was no looking back. Your grandmother was there, showing up to watch your older brother. Then, there was a breakfast at Perkins to get the labor pains started. It all went so quickly. From Birthing Center to Lutheran Hospital in just a few hours. And our precious 11 lb 3 1/2 oz baby boy was born.
They say the Hubble Space Telescope was launched that year, as well as the birth of the World Wide Web. I don't know about that, but I do know that you have made an even bigger impact on our world than those things. 'Hold On' was the number one song and it seemed so appropriate for you loved roller coasters and were always on the go. Sometimes your travels took you away for years at a time! That year, George Bush was president. Gasoline was $1.16 a gallon. A dozen eggs cost $ 1.00 and a gallon of milk was $2.78.
Your dad and I have loved every minute we've spent parenting you. What a joy you are to be around. So smart. So talented. So creative. So kind. Our second born, and everything that we had prayed for and hoped for came true in you. You were and still are perfection.
We worked hard to make sure that your future would be secure. You never gave us an ounce of trouble. Always positive in nature and willing to go and do. You jumped right into your educational years and graduated top of your class. You were also willing to use your musical and artistic talents in so many ways. I'll never forget that FLF drum solo! And even the many art contests that you entered and took first place. There wasn't anything that you set your mind to do that you couldn't achieve. Now you are enjoying an amazing career. You make us so proud.
We love your generous spirit and how you always seem to find the time to make a difference for someone. Your Faith in God is an inspiration. You often spent your summers traveling the world, and made a difference for the people in Peru on your mission.
And now I see you going about your current mission as father and husband with perfection. You have blessed us in so many ways with a beautiful daughter-in-law and amazing grandson. We love getting our weekly calls from you.
We are so very thankful that God gave us you. Today is your day. Happy birthday Eric. We love you. We celebrate you!
