Mary Visits Elizabeth

'A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth.' Luke 1:39-40 (NLT)


 Whenever you've got it and you know that you do, it's just too hard to contain it. That is why it is so important for women who have been filled with the Holy Ghost to communicate with one another on a regular basis. Think of the possibilities. Think of the sharing and the caring that would go on. Think of the potential ministries that would be developed and birthed. Sinners, yet under grace and saved! That's reason to rejoice. That's cause to celebrate! That's just what these two women did. 

 Rejoice! Many months of moments filled with laughter. Many discussions about their concerns for one another and their future. Many times that they shared their most intimate and deepest thoughts with one another. Praying and singing. Praising and worshiping. Hoping and caring. Trusting and believing. Learning and growing. Encouraging and crying. Planting seeds and harvesting. Moving from sickness to health. Just like the seed planted in them. Growing. Maturing. Together. 

 No greater gift has God given us than a Savior. No greater gift has God given us than friends who believe and are willing to walk out that salvation with us. Consider these two women and in their physical and emotional state, how they must have felt and how they must have needed one another. With just the kind of love and affection that would carry them through their most difficult days, and yet most blessed among women tasks. Mothers to be. Motherhood and all of its joys and challenges. John and Jesus's  moms. How glorious. How amazing. 

 So, whenever we are facing our difficult tasks and challenges, how important it is to head to the hills and to the one that will comfort us with their words and keep us safe in their home for a short while, while we sort it. So, whenever we are facing troubles we could hurry just like Mary did, to our family and friends and confide in them and face the problems together. It is not a sign of weakness, no but one of strength. While under the influence of the Spirit, I could only imagine that what was gained during those conversations would bring healing to the soul that would last a lifetime.

Dear Father. Thank you for family and friends that believe and share and care for me. Thank you for the prayers and conversations that I have had with them over the years. Thank you for the times that we have laughed together and that we have cried. Those loved ones have carried me through the hard times and made me who I am today. Their hugs, smiles, words of encouragement have blessed me beyond belief. You helped them to launch me in a new direction. They inspired me. For that I am eternally grateful. Thank you for answered prayers. Bless them. Heal them. Bring us back together soon. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Lessons from the Bible can reassure us of God's love for us and they show us that His ways are good and so much higher than our own. How powerful. In Chapter three, the evil ideas of Haman, to have all the Jews exterminated, had been decreed by the king, and the money set aside in an account for the diabolical deeds and the date was set on the calendar for the bloodshed! That part is so incredible, that one man was given that much power. Just imagine it if you were a Jew. The date for the destruction of your entire race was set and the preparations to follow through with it were being made. Thankfully, our God is greater. Our God is able.
